Brentford vs Swansea (2-0) May 29, 2021 Player Ratings and Stats

Brentford will play in the Premier League for the first time after winning the Championship playoff final 2-0 against Swansea.

Ivan Toney’s early penalty was added to by a strike from Emiliano Marcondes before 20 minutes were played, rocking Swansea, whose recovery was halted by a red card for Jay Fulton midway through the second half.

Toney has been influential for Brentford throughout this campaign, and though he did not have his best match on Saturday, he certainly played his role in what proved a comfortable win. A calm first-half penalty got the ball rolling, while he nearly netted a second with a specular effort from outside the box that bounced down off the bar and onto the line.

Swansea rarely offered a serious threat to the goal of David Raya, and much of that was because of an outstanding performance by the Brentford centre-backs. The pick of these players was Ethan Pinnock, who dominated his duels with the Swansea forwards, especially in the air. The man of the match.

Alongside Pinnock, Henrik Dalsgaard was dominant in the rearguard and did not lose a single duel. His discipline was also formidable as he did not give up a single free kick.
